And the Winner Is...

This year's American Library Association's Youth Media Awards were announced this morning--and several of the winners and honor books are available at MCLS!  The 2015 Newbery Medal winner is Kwame Alexander's The Crossover.  It is available at the John McIntire Library in the Young Adult Fiction stacks, J Ale.  The two honor books, Cece Bell's El Deafo,  and Jacqueline Woodson's Brown Girl Dreaming, are both available in the Juvenile Nonfiction stacks at the John McIntire Library, J 921 Bell and J 921 Woodson, respectively.  

This year's Caldecott Medal winner is The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, written and illustrated by Dan Santat.  This book, along with several of the Honor books, is on order and should arrive soon. 

One Caldecott Honor title available right now is The Right Word: The Story of Roget and His Thesaurus, written by Jen Bryant and illustrated by Melissa Sweet.  This title is also the winner of this year's Robert F. Sibert Medal for the best informational book for children.  It is also available in the Juvenile Nonfiction stacks at the John McIntire Library, J 921 Roget.
